Hello from Helen in Skipton
Our Skipton Branch Manager Helen gives us a look into the current market conditions around Skipton and shares an insight of her team, reasons to live in the area and the current measures that are in place in the branch for the pandemic.
Helen says, “I’ve worked as the Branch Manager at our Skipton office for 2 years now, I feel so lucky to have this job and see such a vast array of properties that are in Skipton and the surrounding areas. I work with Will Crowther, my Sales Valuer, who came from another local agent after working in Ilkley. He has been valuing all over the Craven and Dales area looking at cottages right through to barn conversions and land. In the office, there is Emma Field, our Senior Sales Negotiator who has a wealth of knowledge on the property market, Shannen Hawkins who is the backbone of our office and gets all properties ready for launching to the market and Ellie Dunning - the person you’re most likely to meet, we call her our champion viewer as she loves nothing more than taking people around properties.

After a strange 2020 for all of us, the property market did flourish throughout the various lockdowns and challenges we faced due to the pandemic. Not only did the stamp duty holiday increase the number of buyers that came to the market, but a lot of people reassessed their lives and how they were living. We found that buyers were wanting home offices and outside spaces as their top requirement and they were wanting to move out of the city and into the countryside where they can enjoy beautiful open spaces rather than the city buzz. All of this combined has helped drive our market upwards and sustain property prices.
The best thing about Skipton is the people! Good honest Yorkshire folk. You can walk down the High Street on market day and all the happy traders shout morning greetings to you as you pass by. Everyone is really friendly and helpful and I think that’s because it’s a such a happy place to live. The market town is a vibrant place with lots of shops and eateries on offer. My office is based on the high street so is a great location but my job takes me all over so I could be in a beautiful village in the Yorkshire Dales or a bustling town like Silsden. I have the best of both worlds and feel lucky to have such a broad and diverse range of properties to see.
After the first lockdown, our branch has been lucky enough to stay open and carry on as business as usual whilst adapting to the new normal of full PPE, social distancing and using antibacterial sanitiser at all times. At the moment we can only allow a minimum number of people on viewings and in our branch but we can’t wait to be able to open our doors properly again and invite you in for a coffee and a chat. We are also really looking forward to working with local communities and helping where we can.”
