Earby is located 8 miles to the west of Skipton. Within the village there is a good range of shops including a supermarket, as well as public houses, church, restaurant and a primary school. The village is surrounded by Pendle open countryside but even though semi-rural, it is ideally situated for commuters to both West Yorkshire and East Lancashire, and there is good access to the central M6 motorway network via the M65 at Colne (5 miles away).

Stoney Bank Road runs from the lower part of the village up into open countryside, and at right angles part way up is Stoopes Hill - a short row of just three cottages, number 3 being the end one which has the 1831 plaque on its gable end wall. Weavers Cottage has been in the same family since 1969, and recently a complete restoration programme was carried out including re-wiring, installation of gas central heating from a gas-fired combination boiler, new kitchen and bathroom, re-glazing of the UPVC windows and tanking out the basement which is now a cosy home office/hobbies room with additional storage areas. There's much more to this lovely cottage than first meets the eye, and the accommodation is described in brief below using approximate room sizes:-
